Brazilian Ground\u00a0Handling Association, as known as Abesata,\u00a0is now affiliated with the ASA (Airport Services Association), an organization that represents the segment\u00a0worldwide. The signing took place in Miami (USA), during the 2nd Americas Ground Handling International Conference.<\/p>\n

“Being part of ASA is a huge\u00a0step\u00a0for making\u00a0our segment stronger.\u00a0This partnership\u00a0can make us deal more\u00a0easily with ours\u00a0own problems\u00a0becouse\u00a0we can\u00a0now\u00a0exchange information and\u00a0bring references from\u00a0what was done elsewhere”,\u00a0said the president of Abesata, Ricardo Aparecido Miguel. ASA represents\u00a0the Ground Handling sector\u00a0such as\u00a0IATA (International Air Transport Association) represents the\u00a0airlines companies. “We can now say that Abesata was\u00a0founded three years\u00a0ago to\u00a0be the\u00a0voice\u00a0of the ground handling\u00a0services companies nationwide, now\u00a0we can\u00a0do that globally”, sad Miguel.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_20160928_163617948\"ASA is a fully international association with members on all continents, representing almost every country and major airports. ASA was founded more than 20 years ago in Brussels and was called “Independent Airport Handlers Association” and later on changed to “International Airport Handlers Association”. Finally in 2011, the headquarters moved to Switzerland, promoting a change also in the corporate image and name, adopting ASA Airport Services Association.<\/p>\n

The president of Abesata remembers that the issues surrounding the ground handling companies does not differ much from other countries: Monopoly and dumping attempts, public authorities lack of criteria for creating \u00a0new regulations and others.<\/p>\n

The agreement between Abesata and ASA was signed by Michael Hancock and Tim Ornellas, both members of the ASA Council, and on behalf of Abesata, signed by Ricardo Miguel, President, and Edgar Nascimento, director.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_20160928_163913859\"Both associations will be working together on global issues. They will\u00a0exchange information and data, promote events, seminars and training. Everything will be done\u00a0with the objective of strengthening the ground handling segment in the world.<\/p>\n

The first meeting between the two associations took place in Istanbul in April 2015, at which the president of ASA, Samim Aydin, expressed interest to have a strong link in South America: “Abesata has demonstrated credibility with authority and is ideal for our interests on the continent. And I’m sure that the ASA can collaborate enough with the progress of air transport in Brazil.”<\/p>\n

On the same day 28\/09\/16 – Wednesday, Ricardo Miguel attended the Ground Handling Conference as a speaker. He introduced the theme of the relationship of ground handling companies with the airport administration, and the regulatory role of public authorities in the work of auxiliary companies in the air transport. In the same panel, were Gustavo Di Cio, director of Abiax Air, speaking of regional opportunities in the Americas, and Len Sloper, the Aspa – Airline Service Providers Association \"IMG-20160928-WA0008\"(USA), who joined the panel on industry challenges in region.<\/p>\n
