Industry leaders welcome the appointment<\/strong><\/p>\n Nick Careen, IATA\u2019s Senior Vice President\u00a0Airport, Passenger, Cargo and Security\u00a0(APCS) stated, \u201cI welcome this Jon Conway, who recently left dnata, has been\u00a0appointed Director General of ASA \u2013 the Airport\u00a0Services Association and will take up his new\u00a0position from the 1st March, 2017.\u00a0A familiar figure in the ground handling world, Jon Jon is keen to get started and commented on the\u00a0task ahead: “As the airlines increasingly entrust\u00a0their ground handling needs to third parties, it is\u00a0clear to me that our growing industry needs the\u00a0support and guidance of an energetic and value\u00a0adding association. \nbegan his aviation career in 1973, when he joined\u00a0BOAC Cargo (which later became British Airways\u00a0Cargo) based at London Heathrow. In 1981 he\u00a0joined Cathay Pacific Airways, the start of a 27 year\u00a0career with the Hong Kong based carrier. Initially\u00a0working in the carrier\u2019s freight operation at\u00a0London Gatwick, Jon was appointed Airport\u00a0Manager at Manchester in 1989, where he spent a\u00a0further five years before moving to Hong Kong in\u00a01994.\u00a0 \u00a0Jon held a variety of senior management\u00a0roles ending as Director & General Manager of\u00a0Hong Kong Airport Services. He joined dnata as its Divisional Senior Vice President UAE Airport\u00a0Operations in 2008 \u2013 a post he held for eight years\u00a0before stepping down at the end of 2016.<\/p>\n
