IATA’s Safety Management Conference

conferencia

ICAO introduced Safety Management program requirements a decade ago. Since then, the aviation community have been involved in the shift towards performance based management and oversight, significantly changing how we manage and oversee safety. There has been a wide varying degree of understanding and implementation, and we have all experienced many successes and challenges; some unique, however most not.

With the theme “A Decade in Review and The Vision Forward”  the IATA Safety Management Conference will be arranged on October 25-27 in Abu Dhabi, at the stunning Ritz Carlton Grand Canal, this 2 ½ day conference is hosted by the GCAA UAE and Etihad Airways.

The event will assemble over 250 international stakeholders to review the vision and intent of Safety Management, share experiences, challenges and lessons learned with SMS and SSP implementation, review and understand the recently adopted first Annex 19 amendments, and identify key strategies to collectively move forward. The event’s broader scope will enable all stakeholders under the purview of Annex 19 (airline operators, State authorities, airports, aircraft and engine manufacturers, air navigation service providers, training organizations, etc.), as well as supporting organizations, such as ground service providers and audit organizations, to participate in reviewing the past decade and laying the groundwork for the road ahead.

The Conference offers the opportunity to participate discussions and interact with a cross-section of top decision makers, ultimately gaining insight and influencing the future of aviation safety. Additionally, networking events include a welcome cocktail reception and a gala dinner, hosted by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, on the second evening. Specific details on topics and confirmed speakers to date can be found on the event website.
